Profile: Rutland chapter head road captain.
My name is David Russell. I am 47 years of age and live in Peterborough with my Finnish wife Iris. I am a Police officer and have been so for the past 26 years, working in London (not the Metropolitan Police though!). I ride a 2001 FXDX Dyna super glide sport and have been riding Harley’s for the past two years or so having started with a 1200 Sportster. I have also been a member of the Rutland chapter for the same period of time. As well as having a passion for anything with two wheels I also like to fly aircraft and have a full private pilots license which I obtained in 1985 at Biggin Hill in Kent. I like to travel and have been to some very interesting parts of the world. That is one of the reasons I have not been as active this year with the run outs as I would have liked, the holidays having been booked before taking the post.
My biking experience goes back 30 years when I rode my first moped in 1976 a Yamaha FSIE. I passed my bike test first time in 1977 and my car test, again first time in 1978. Since then I have ridden most types of machines from Trail bikes to race bikes. I  have completed several related training courses including bike safe and am a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists and a class 1 Police driver. I have also been on courses relating to the riding of race bikes at Thruxton and Darley Moor and have ridden several other UK race circuits including Brands Hatch (GP circuit) and Snetterton.
So I hope this gives you a little idea of what your HRC is about and what I have done.
Ride safe, enjoy………………..Dave Russell
